Welcome to a songwriter circle like the world has never seen before.
Friday, April 1, 2022, at 7pm central time, a group of the bravest songwriters in Nashville brought acoustic guitars, drums, and their very outdoor voices to gather on unused land beneath a highway overpass and sang to each other for 2 hours straight as the sun set. Photos and videos available online (click here) and major bragging rights to this amazing group of superhuman hearts who literally made history co-creating the world’s first song circle underneath a highway overpass.
History: I was on a bus in Nashville headed to the airport for a gig in Wisconsin. The regular route took us from the terminal ("Music City Central" for daily bus riders) downtown through Rutledge and Chestnut Hill on toward Donelson where my plane awaited. Headphones in and listening to Tim Ferriss interview Sheila Heen of the Harvard Negotiation Project, my eyes watched the landscape roll by -- until we passed Highway 40, a thought hit me, and I had to capture it. What if a group of songwriters were to gather and sing in the unrestricted area underneath the overpass?
